Description

While his talents were the subject of marvel throughout an unparalleled career, Babe Ruth’s consistency was perhaps even more remarkable. Ruth set out to do things on a grandiose scale and, whether successful or not, his every endeavor could only be defined with superlatives. The offered Ruth-signed baseball serves as testament to Ruth’s steady demeanor and lust for life that never waned in the least.

The medium is a clean and creamy OAL Harridge sphere (grade “7”) with trademark stampings that date to post-1945. In its customary place on the sweet spot, Ruth’s black-ink steel-tip fountain pen autograph resonates every bit (“8”) strength and clarity with its unmistakable slants accented by the trademark upper-case “B” and “R” characters. The two-fold effect of Ruth’s hitting prowess was one of self-enjoyment and unprecedented adoration by millions. The more home runs he launched, the more fans, young and old, he wowed. In his post-career athletic efforts, Ruth sought to drive a golf ball as far and high as he could, and, at the bowling alley, he kept track of his total pin fall, not his individual game scores. From the days during which he owned New York and his eponymously nicknamed stadium to the later years when age, weight and health caught up with him, Ruth never shorted the public, always giving his all. The bold and sizable endorsement on this vintage Junior Circuit keepsake provides ample evidence of that. Full photo LOA from JSA.

NOTE: This ball also comes with a full letter from PSA/DNA and has been graded. Autograph grade (7); Ball grade (5) = overall PSA/DNA Grade 6
