Description

Boastful during an era of modest performers who let their athletic abilities do the talking, Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean was usually able to back his brash predictions. The offered fielder’s glove was autographed by the Redbird great, and its use is attributed to Dean during his headline-filled career. The right-handed “Spalding” model is endorsed by Dean on the inner portion of the last finger. Accented by his trademark curvaceous upper-case “D”s the black-ink autograph resonates (“8”) quality, with minor separation in the surname preventing higher assessment. The glove itself, meanwhile, exhibits outstanding game use with wear/wrinkles about the pocket and webbing and flaking along the palm area. This “Gateway City” heirloom comes with documentation from a 1992 sale, reporting that the glove was originally obtained by famed New York baseball scribe Fred Lieb. The document goes on to say that Lieb then befriended a collector and gave him several items, including this glove. Also accompanying is full photo LOA from PSA/DNA (for autograph).
