Turned during the 1986-1989 labeling period, this Louisville Slugger “S2” George Brett signature model bat was ordered/used during spring training or in the Royals minor league system. The uncracked (29.9-oz/34”) white ash weapon shows outstanding use with ball, bat-rack and stitch impressions throughout, as well as grain swelling on the barrel and a black marker notation of “7” on the knob. The S2 model does not appear on any of Brett’s ordering records for the referenced labeling period. Therefore, it can be considered a pro stock George Brett model that was ordered for use in spring training or in the Royals’ minor league system. The notation of “7” on the knob cannot be definitively attributed to any single player, though the possibilities with the parent club include Rudy Law (1986) and Ed Hearn (1987, 1988). The bat’s use by Brett cannot be confirmed.
