As he powered the Oakland A’s back to prominence, Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson was issued and autographed this Louisville Slugger bat during the 1981-1982 labeling period, this uncracked (32.9-oz/34-1/2”) “S2” signature model bat shows heavy use with ball, bat-rack and stitch marks throughout, pine tar and scoring on the handle and a black marker notation of “35” (obscuring an earlier numeric notation) on the knob. On the barrel, Henderson’s black marker signature shows (“7”) strength. Full photo LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA. More on our website.
Of note are the numeric notations on the knob. Henderson’s number “35” is visible in black marker. Just beneath in faded black marker, however, an illegible two-digit number ending in “2” suggests that the bat was prepped for or used by another player. According to the PSA/DNA LOA, after a thorough examination of the bat and its player use characteristics, it is their opinion that the bat is authentic and was manufactured for Henderson during the referenced labeling period. The appearance of two uniform numbers, however, prohibits them from confirming the bat’s use by Henderson.
Note: The PSA/DNA full photo LOA attests to the bat's authenticity only.
